The three week long ICT training program organised for teachers in  Anambra state schools has ended .The closing ceremony which took place at Teachers House Awka , attracted education stakeholders and representatives of Google,Zenox, and other ICT  giants.


Education Correspondent Theophilus Ukoha was there and  reports that  the program tagged”The first ever Anambra school Digital Fiesta”, which was organized by Ministry of basic Education, in collaboration with  Ministry of Youth Entrepreneurship and Creative Economy,in conjunction with a non governmental organization”Bring it on Africa”is in  line with Governor Obiano’s promise to provide globally competitive education for’ umu akwukwo ndi Anambra.Speaking on the occasion , Governor Willie Obiano, represented by Commissioner for Youth Entrepreneurship and Creative Economy, Mr Afam Mbanefo   said state government is very passionate about empowering ‘umu akwukwo ndi Anambra’, to key into the contemporary digital world and  equipping teachers properly for their  pivotal roles  in  driving the e-education vision.He therefore charged the teachers to practicalise all they have garnered during the weeks of training for the task ahead. Commissioner for Basic Education, Professor Kate Omeugha,in her speech reminded the teachers, that ICT technology will not replace teachers, rather teachers without ICT knowledge will be replaced with those who are ICT complaint.The Commissioner who referred to the the theme of the training”, Digitalizing Teaching and Learning Skills in Education Sector”, said writing of lesson notes and every other teaching activities will henceforth be done with ICT based technology and as such all should be ready for task ahead.


Earlier in his opening remarks, the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Basic Education,Mr Nwankwo Nwabueze, commended all the organizations that  facilitated the realization the laudable goals of Digitalizing Teaching and Learning Skills in the state.while thanking Google, Zenox, Bring it on Africa group, Mr Nwabueze  commended the principals ,Head Teachers and teachers in the school system for making themselves available for the training.


Later in an  interview the chairman and Group Managing Director Zenox Technology, Mr Stanley Uzo,who donated a brand new computer to the best performed teacher, Mrs Ifediba Veronica from Emeka Aghasili High School Nise, said computer technology will soon become a way of life and prosperity will surely depends on being complaint.

The coordinator “Bring it on Africa“,Mr Chigbo Nweke, also in interview expressed with the successful completion of the three week long ICT training program.Also in attendance at event were  chairman PPSSC Lady Ify Okaro, Chairman ASUBEB, Chief Patrick Ugboaja and education stakeholders in the state.Presentation of cheques to teachers and schools also featured at the event..
