Anambra State Commissioner for Transport, Dr Christian Madubuko, has
cautioned against indiscriminate loading and offloading of commuters
on roads by commercial drivers.
The Commissioner gave the warning when Urban Drivers Welfare Association, UDWAAS, Anambra State, paid him a courtesy visit in his office at the Jerome Udoji Secretariat, Awka.
Dr Madubuko directed all commercial buses to discharge or pick
passengers only at designated bus stops to facilitate vehicular
traffic.
He disclosed that student routes will be defined and established in
order to fish out some commercial buses operating under the National
Association of Nigeria Students, NANS but not registered with them and
enjoined them to ensure that all commercial vehicles in the state
comply with the approved state colours.
Earlier, the President of UDWAAS, Mr. Nnamdi Okafor congratulated the
Commissioner for his new office, assuring that they will support him
and adhere to the state government’s transport policies.
He pleaded with the Commissioner to look into the activities of NANS
with regards to the number of buses they control.
