The State government has called on illegal motor park operators in the state to key into state government approved parks in the state.


Handing over the directive during an inspection tour of some parks in Onitsha, the Commissioner for Transport, Dr Christian Madubuko, lamented the rate, at which individuals have flouted government’s order by establishing illegal private parks, a situation which he noted with dismay, has led to the diversion of government revenue stating that the State government will initiate measures, to stop such ugly development warning that the full wrath of law will take its course on individuals and groups involved.


Dr. Madubuko, while inspecting the newly constructed park, along Relief Market Fire Service Station along Obodoukwu road, said the park, constructed by the present administration, is of International Standard, with state of the art facilities, calling on the citizenry to align efforts in utilizing the park, to enable the government harness it’s full economic potentials.


The Commissioner, while noting that the exercise will extend to other parts of the state, solicited for maximum co- operation, among the public and disclosed that a taskforce has been constituted to enforce compliance with government directives.


Among the areas visited, were Owerri road park, Grace of God, along Obodoukwu road, Ogbaru Council area, where he observed that the revenue accruable to the government was not properly accounted for.


Speaking to ABS, the operator of the park, Chief Ignatius Ogugua, explained the challenges hampering their operations in the park.
Another area visited was the damaged portion of the express-way close to the new park where he assured that government will w find lasting solution to the erosion menace.
