The Anambra State House of Assembly has reassured Ndi Anambra of greater commitment to achieving a sustainable peace in the state.


The Speaker Anambra State House of Assembly, Right Honorable Uchenna Okafor stated this shortly after receiving an award and appointment as Ambassador for World Peace at the Professor Dora Akunyili Women Development Centre in Awka.



Right Honorable Uchenna Okafor while speaking through the member representing Nnewi North in the State House of Assembly, Mr. Nonso Okafor, noted that peace is very essential in nation building, stressing that the Seventh Assembly has placed achieving a sustainable peace in the state a top priority in their legislative agenda.


He commended the UN PEPOLAC for organizing such timely event, urging them not to relent in their efforts to achieve peaceful coexistence.
Chief Mrs. Ebelechukwu Obiano was also among those invested with the award of Ambassador for World Peace and she was represented by the Commissioner for Women Affairs Lady Ndidi Mezue.


Other recipients of Ambassador for World Peace Award including the member representing Orumba North in the State House of Assembly, Mr.
Emeka Aforka, the Commissioner for Basic Education Professor Kate Omenugha, represented by her son Mr. Nelson Omenugha and Bishop Edith Ezenekwe, assured to live up to expectations.
