The Anambra State government has assured that the Amansea bridge is
safe for traffic and not collapsing as  rumoured by some uninformed
road users, recently.

The Commissioner for Works, Engineer Marcel Ifejiofor gave the
assurance shortly after inspecting the bridge.

Works Correspondent Ngozi Obileri reports that
the Commissioner said they were at the bridge following a report they
received that the bridge is sinking.

He was accompanied by the Managing Director Anambra state Material
Testing Laboratory, the Chairman  Anambra State Road
Maintenance Agency Engineer Emeka Okoye, as well as the Permanent
Secretary Ministry of Works, Mr. Emeka Ohuoha and directors in the
ministry.

Engineer Ifejiofor added that the bridge is still very strong, urging
the public to continue to use the bridge as he said there is no cause
for alarm.

He however said that the Material Testing Laboratory will carry our
integrity test on the bridge after which Ministry of Works will give
conclusion report on the issue.
