Anambra State Government has bagged the overall best State Programme Award on Tuberculosis (TB), Leprosy and Buruli Ulcer programme in Nigeria.
Anambra State Commissioner for Health, Dr Vincent Okpala, announced this, while receiving the award presented to him by former State Programme Manager on TB, Leprosy and Buruli Ulcer, Dr Ifeanyichukwu Okolie.
Dr Okpala affirmed the commitment of the State Ministry of Health towards supporting Governor Willie Obiano’s policy of providing functional healthcare services in the state.
Dr Okpala stated that government will continue to put more efforts at ensuring that the state receives more awards at National level, adding that this award will motivate others, especially people that are charged to carry out the important tasks in the Ministry.
Former Programme Manager TB, Leprosy and Buruli Ulcer in the State, Dr Okolie, commended the good policies of Anambra state Government in the Health sector.
Dr Okolie said the state won the award because of the good foundation, conducive atmosphere, skilled manpower, infrastructure, and liberty in the state, which he said has helped them to achieve the feat.
He said that the award was given to the state because it was able to notify more cases and other indicators in TB like, TB in children, TB in HIV and cure.
