A Magistrates’ Court in Wuse Zone six, Abuja today sentenced an applicant, Mr. Sani, to six months in prison for stealing a vehicle belonging to the Nigerian Red Cross Society.
The police charged Mr. Sani along with two other defendants, Ibrahim and Abdullahi with two counts of criminal conspiracy and theft.
While Sani, the first defendant pleaded guilty, Ibrahim and Abdullahi, the second and third defendants pleaded not guilty.
The Magistrate, Linda Chimada, sentenced Mr. Sani without an option to pay a fine.
The magistrate also admitted the second and third defendants to bail of five hundred thousand naira each and two reasonable sureties in like sum.
The Magistrate adjourned the case until October twenty-two for hearing.
