Governor Willie Obiano has called on those in leadership positions to use it to reposition the society for the good of the people.


The Governor made the call during the enthronement service of Right Reverend Ndubuisi Chukwuka Obi as the new Bishop of Anglican Diocese of Nnewi.



The service which took place at the Cathedral Church of St. Mary, Nnewi, attracted both Anglican and non Anglican Bishops, as well as faithful and non faithful of the church from across the state.


Right Reverend Obi who succeeds Most Reverend Professor Godwin Okpala, now retired, is the second Bishop of Nnewi Anglican Diocese.
Governor Obiano represented by his Deputy, Dr. Nkem Okeke while commending the new Bishop of the Diocese on his new position in Church of Nigeria, expressed hope that he will transform the area with the gospel of Jesus Christ, and called on both religious and political leaders to use their various positions to positively change lives.


Earlier in a sermon, the new Bishop, Right Reverend Obi who promised to use his tenure in the diocese for the propagation of the gospel of Christ, charged Christians to wake to their divine mandate of soul winning.
He appealed for the total support of the diocese throughout his stay, noting that he is there, both for their spiritual and physical needs.


In a remark, the Archbishop, Province of the Niger, Most Reverend Alexander Ibezim while congratulating Bishop Obi on his new position, encouraged him to remain committed to the work of God amidst all odds, and prayed for more of God’s grace and blessings on him.
