Governor Willie Obiano has commissioned Ogugua Chike Okagbue Primary Health and Maternity Center, Nagbana, Umunnachi, Dunukofia local government Area, Anambra state.


The Ultra morden Health Center was built single-handedly by a philanthropist, who is also the Deputy Chief of Staff as well as Chief Protocol Officer to the Governor, Chief Uzuegbunam Okagbue.

While commissioning the edifice, Governor Obiano, who was represented by the Commissioner for Health, Dr Vincent Okpala rated the health center as among the three best out of the 575 health centers in the state.


He announced that the Primary Health Center will be among the three pilot centers selected for upgrade, training and retraining of personnel
The Governor said that the health center will offer modern health care and medical attention due to the sophisticated facilities in the center, stressing that the State engaged the services of medical staff, to offer quality services to the people, pointing out that it is part of the vision of the present administration to ensure quality living.


While assuring that the state government will partner Okagbue Primary Health Center to procure more sophisticated facilities, to meet international standard, the Governor urges the people to maintain regular medical check up, especially now that kidney related issues are rampant.


Chairman on the occasion and Commissioner for Women and Children’s Affairs, Lady Ndidi Mezue, expressed optimism that the maternity will reposition the life of women in the area, noting that prior to the maternity, pregnant women were facing various challenges during delivery, as some usually travelled long distance to access medical attention, adding that the health center offers employment opportunities to members of the community and will promote healthy living.


In his remarks, the philanthropist, Chief Okagbue said that the gesture was in fulfilment of his promise in 2017, to erect a medical outfit that will solve the health challenges facing his people.


Chief Okagbue, who erected the center in his mother’s village, Nagbana, Umunachi, christened it after his mother as a mark of honour and urged other meaningful individuals in the community, to borrow a leaf from the gesture and attract projects that will impact on the people positively.


In his speech, Chairman of Dunukofia Council area, Engineer Emeka Okonkwo who attracted the project, stressed that the APGA-led government in the State have continued to embark on projects that reposition the lives of Ndi Anambra, calling on the people to sustain support for Governor Obiano’s government for more dividends of democracy.


One of the women living in the Community, Mrs Ifeoma Offor expressed happiness for the center, recalling that many women died in the past for lack of access to good health.
