NdIgbo have been asked to go back to agriculture for growth and sustainable sico-economic development. . Correspondent, Oggorchukwu Oranu reports that the traditional ruler of Ogbunike in Oyi local Government Area, Igwe John Umenyiora made the call during his 2019 Iwa ji festival at Ogbunike where well wishers, dignitaries and indigenes from the six villages that make up the community graced the occasion.


Performing the traditional cutting of the new yam, Igwe Umenyiora thanked God for a bountiful harvest and the life of his subjects and enjoined people to go back to Agriculture for wealth creation.
He said that overseas, farmers are the richest people and urged the government to design a system that will encourage youths to embrace Agriculture where yam and other crops will be cultivated.


Igwe Umenyiora also conferred chieftaincy titles to some individuals, who distinguished themselves in service to the community including High Chief Kenneth Nwabueze from Ogidi town, High Chief Dr Nnamdi Nwadiogbu, the Transition Committee chairman for Oyi local government area among others.


The traditional ruler of Umueri, Igwe Benneth Emeka, who was among the traditional rulers present at the occasion said Iwa ji festival, brings peace and unity among the people and urged Ndi Ogbunike to toe the path of peace and support their traditional ruler to accelerate development.


A member of board, Anambra Broadcasting Service, Chief Bobmanuel Udokwu said that the state government lays serious emphasis on agriculture through the disbursement of improved seedlings to numerous farmers cooperatives to enable them to ensure food sufficiency.
In their separate remarks, the vice chairman, Igwe in council Ogidi, Chief Pius Udeogalanya while thanking God for the protection given to farmers throughout the farming season, applauded Igwe Umenyiora for the chieftaincy title conferred on their son.
