The Anambra State House of Assembly has renewed the tenure of the Transition Committee Chairmen and members of the twenty one local government areas in the state for another three months.The House renewed their appointment in line with section two hundred and eight of the local government law during yesterday’s plenary in Awka.
House of Assembly The House nenewd their tenure at Committee of the whole after which the Speaker, Mr. Uche Okafor read out the confirmation of their appointment while members of the House supported it through a voice vote.In his speech, the Speaker charged the confirmed chairmen and members to key into Governor Willie Obiano’s achievements in the state by ensuring that peace reigns in their local government areas and monitor strictly all the developmental projects of the Obiano administration in their localities especially the revolving twenty million naira community choose your project initiative to ensure effective utilization of the fund by the communities. The Speaker also charged them to show competence and total commitment in the discharge of their duties by initiating programmes and projects that have direct bearing on the lives of the rural people. In vote of thanks, the Transition Committee Chairman, Idemili North Local Government Area, Mr Raphael Nnabuife and his Orumba South counterpart, Chief Raymond Onyegu thanked the Executive and Legislative Arms of Government for finding them worthy to pilot the affairs of their respective council areas, assuring that they will work hard to improve the living standards of their people. Also at plenary, the Chairman, House Committee on Health, Dr. Carter Umeh presented the report of his Committee on a bill for a law to repeal the Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital, Amaku ,Awka to the House.
