Governor Willie Obiano has received teachers and schools who won
different categories of awards at the just concluded World Teacher’s
Day celebration in Abuja.

The team was received during Yesterdays State Executive Council
meeting, at the Government House, Awka

 Out of  the twenty four awards, Anambra won four, including a car and a bus.

The awards include overall School Administrator in Nigeria, overall
Best Public School, second runner up, Best Teacher Public School
Category and first runner up, Best Teacher in private school category.

Also at the Executive Council Meeting, Anambra State government
received students who won the fifty-eighth edition of the Presidential
schools debate.

This is the fourth time Anambra State is winning the award.

Governor Obiano who stressed that the support his administration is
giving to teachers in hinterlands is yielding dividends, commended the
Commissioner for Basic Education Professor Kate Omenugha, the Post
Primary Schools Service Commission and Anambra State Universal Basic
Education Board, for their efforts,  asking them to do more.

The Governor, who maintained that his government will continue to
support education, congratulated them and thanked the coordinators of
the debate team.

The Commissioner for Basic Education, Professor Omenugha in her remarks  explained
that the award was to celebrate teachers and schools who have done
their States proud  and commended Anambra State Universal Basic
Education Board, Post Primary Schools Service Commission and Staff of
the Ministry, for ensuring quality as well as close monitoring of academic activities in schools .

Professor Omenugha  thanked the Governor’s belief and support  to the Education sector .

Presentation of trophy, certificates and keys to the vehicles to the
Governor who in turn handed them back to the awardees were highlights
of the event.
