Farmers in both rural and semi urban areas of Anambra State have been exposed to proper farm keeping records.
The training, powdered by the state co-ordination office of IFAD-VCDP, took place across the eight participating Local Government Areas.
Agric correspondent Ebele Ezeh reports that following the successful training of Extension Agents on farm record keepings and the use of Extension packages on rice and cassava farming, the farmers have commenced the processes of stepping it down.
Monitoring the step down training at the various locations across the eight participating Local Government areas, the leader of the team and the Agric Production Officer, Federal Government of Nigeria/IFAD VCDP, Mr. Emmanuel Chukwukwelu said they embarked on the training to teach farmers best practicing method for recording of their farming activities.
Mr. Chukwukwelu noted that proper record keeping will avail them the opportunity of benefiting from banks and other donor agencies.
Speaking at their various locations, an Agro-Technician and member of the team, Mr. Ifeanyi Okoye said proper record keepings, apart from serving as basis for comparison, will also guide and provide a road map for their farming activities.
He asked them to always draw a farming plan before embarking on it properly to avoid failure.
Expressing their views over the training, some of the farmers including Mr. Nnaemeka Obi from Nawfija and Mrs Asumpta Ijeoma from Ndikelionwu said the training will help them to develop themselves and their yields.
In their separate submissions, Mrs Ifeyinwa Ogbonnia from Ogbaru, Mrs Oluchukwu Nnalue from Ifite-Ogwari and Ayamelum Commodity Alliance Forum Chairman, Mr. Innocent Okeke described record keeping as very important in the life of an individual.
The event featured distribution of farm record books and packaging practices on rice and cassava to farmers.
