Mondays are expectedly buzzy, as the new week unfolds into new targets and high hopes.
At the News and Current Affairs arm of Anambra Broadcasting Service, ABS, as members of staff rounded off its post-moterm, an every-Monday re-assessment of previous week’s work layout and blueprints for the new week, all corners lit up to celebrate a surprise birthday for the Director of the Department, Mr. Gab Okpalaeze.
Mr. Gab Okpalaeze, the Director of News and Current Affairs of Anambra Broadcasting Service, whose birthday was on Saturday, October 26th, would probably not have thought that the usual Monday ritual would transform into festivity.
Members of staff of the department were jubilant as a man who, according to them, has stood firmly as a father-figure in the unit, added another year to his life.
Mr. Okpalaeze, in his appreciation speech, said he was elated by the gesture and restated his resolve to leave a legacy in to department, by carrying everyone along despite their cadre or age.
He thanked the members of staff of the unit for the honour and pledged to stick to leadership that strengthens collective work identity, objectives and results in the department.
Also speaking, Comrade Ebele Eze, a senior staff in the Department, said that Mr. Okpalaeze’s glowing profile as a man who understands his subordinates, has endeared him greatly to the people around him, and prayed God to grant him longer and more fulfilled life.
The staff members, along with the celebrant, jointly cut the birthday cake to cap the in-house occasion.
