Rotary Club District 9142 has offered free medical services in Awka, Anambra State Capital.
Those involved in the free medical outreach were, Rotary Club of Awka, Rotary Club of Awka Central and that of Awka G.R.A, Awka Smithtown.
Others were Rotary Club of Awka Unizik, Rotary Club of Awka Metropolis as well as Rotary Club of Njikoka, Abagana.
Speaking to the ABS, the Assistant Governor Zone 9, Rotarian Chukwunonso Epundu, said that every year, Rotarians across west Africa holds Family Health Days as one of their efforts to improve on their area of focus, which is to prevent diseases and cure diseases.
Rotarian Epundu revealed that the exercise is going on simultaneously in Awka, Onitsha, Ozubulu and Nnewi and promised that rotary club will continue to provide free health care services to the people.
The Anambra State Cordinator of the 2019 Family Health Days, Rotarian Ngozi Nworji-Ekeh, said that the exercise was a dream come true for her and explained that Rotary Club focuses on health, sanitation, water, education, conflict resolution among others.
Another Rotarian, Mr. Kenneth Aniemena, said that he is happy that Rotarians have brought free medical services to the people, especially the less privileged in the society.
Two of the beneficiaries, Mr. Chukwuka Jideobi and Mrs. Regina Nnagboo, thanked the Rotary Club for assisting them medically.
The exercise featured health talks, counseling, blood pressure and blood sugar checks, malaria and HIV tests, cervical and breast cancer checks, distribution of mosquito insecticide nets and sanitary pads, among others.
