The Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Anambra Broadcasting Service, ABS, Chief Uche Nworah has restated the station’s commitment to partner state government and other relevant bodies in making young people embrace Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics as disciplines.
He made the statement when the Awka branch of the Association of Professional Women Engineers of Nigeria, a pressure group affiliated to the Nigerian Society of Engineers, NSE, paid him a courtesy visit at ABS cooperate headquarters, Awka.
Josepgh Egbeocha reports that Chief Nworah who noted that Anambra state has continued to break records in academics, said encouraging more people to take up STEM education is a right step in solving numerous societal problems.
He commended the state government for sustaining support to the station, adding that ABS has been faithful in encouraging women in Engineering, by offering them Industrial Training, IT and job opportunities in the establishment.
Speaking after tour of facilities in ABS, the Chairperson, Awka branch of the association, Engineer Oluchi Okoli, said the Association of Professional Women Engineers of Nigeria is deeply committed to increasing more women interest in Engineering, with a view to achieving sustainable national and technological development.
She expressed satisfaction with modern technological equipments available in ABS, adding that with its expected reach, activities of the association will be brought to the knowledge of the wider society.
The Head of Engineering Unit of the ABS, Engineer Paul Okoye, who joined in conducting the Women Engineers around ABS, said with government and management’s support, the station has continued to improve on its reach and contents.
