The Anambra State Government has commiserated with the Catholic Community in the State over the loss of a Catholic Priest, Reverend Father Edmund Nwagbala in a fire incident at Nnewi.
Governor Willie Obiano who visited the scene of the inferno at the Parish House, said that full investigation has been launched into the matter, and asked persons with useful information, to submit same to the police in a coordinated manner.
The Governor was accompanied by the State Commissioner of Police, Mr.
John Abang, the State Director, Department of State Security, DSS, Mr.
A.Y Hassan Chief of Staff to the Governor, Mr. Primus Odili, National Chairman of APGA, Chief Victor Oye, among others.
Brief prayers were said at the scene for the deceased and the souls of the faithful departed.
Catholic Bishop of Nnewi Diocese, the Most Reverend Hilary Odili-Okeke, among others, received the Governor.
Recall that the fire occurred on Saturday, November sixteen, 2019 where the Priest lost his life in his room where it was gathered, the fire emanated from.
Men of Anambra State Fire Service, who were deployed to the fire scene, contained the situation, without which the entire building would have been razed.
Till his demise, Reverend Father Nwagbala was the Parish Priest at Saint Peter’s Cleaver’s Catholic Church, Nnewichi, Nnewi.
