Operation Clean and Healthy Anambra, OCHA Brigade, Anambra Central Senatorial zone has commenced demolition of Illegal Structures along the roads in the Zone.
The exercise which was kicked off at Awada Idemili North Local Government Area was led by Zonal Commander OCHA Brigade, Mr Daniel Obiefuna in collaboration with Anambra State Traffic Management Agency ATMA, and Traffic Decongestion Authority Ogidi zone.
Structures removed were those built on top of drainage channels and those under the electric high tension poles at various streets visited.
Speaking to the ABS after the exercise, the OCHA Brigade Zonal Commander Mr Obiefuna restated the State Government’s commitment towards ensuring orderliness, cleanliness and good health of Ndi Anambra and pledged the resolve of OCHA Brigade towards mass enlightenment of the people on need for healthy environment.
Mr Obiefuna who noted that the traders displayed consumable items on drainage system and under the electric
high tension poles, maintained that
those food items were no more safe for consumption and promised to ensure that illegal structures are removed from all roads within the Zone.
On their parts, the Chairman Idemili North Traffic Decongestion Authority Ogidi Mr Gilbert Okoye and Idemili Zonal Supervisor Anambra State Traffic Management Agency ATMA Mr Raymond Ofoegbu said the exercise was to restore sanity and ensure free flow of traffic on the State’s roads during and after the Yuletide and promised to monitor the exercise to ensure compliance.
Reacting to the development, the President General Awada Land Lord’s Association Mr Paul Chinedu and Chairman Decongestion Committee Awada Mr Obinna Agugua, commended the state government for the exercise which they described as needful.
They disclosed that for the past six months, several notices and warnings were given to the residents to remove all illegal structures on the drainage channels and under the high tension along the streets all to no avail.
