Police Detectives in the Anambra State Command have arrested two female kidnap suspects at Nkpor in Idemili North Local Government Area and rescued three children.


The Police Public Relations Officer, Mr Haruna Mohammed, who disclosed this at the Command Headquarters Amawbia, said preliminary investigation revealed that two of the children were allegedly stolen from Enugwu -Aguleri by one Chisom Ani from Amuri in Nkanu Enugu, State and Mrs Udodiri Afamefuna from Mbaitolu in Imo State.


According to him, following the announcement, the parents of the two children Mr and Mrs Ejike, who are food vendors came and identified their children namely Confidence aged five years and Blessing aged seven months.


Speaking to the ABS, the father of the children, Mr Ejike narrated how one of the suspects, Chisom who lives close to them took their children in the guise of looking after them.


Also in an interview, one of the suspects, Chisom after recounting how they kidnapped the children, said they were about to sell the seven months old baby for four hundred thousand naira adding that her share from the sale would have been fifty thousand naira before luck ran out of them.


Meanwhile, the children have re-united with their parents and the case according to the Police Public Relations Officer is still under investigation after which the suspects will be charged to court.
Meanwhile, the State Commissioner of Police Mr John Abang, has urged parents and guardians to monitor their children in addition to cautioning them against following strangers.


He further enjoined landlords to be wary of the kind of people they give accommodation in their houses.
While calling on parents looking for their child to come to the State Police Command, Mr Abang also enjoined the public to report any suspicious persons to the nearest police station.
