The Anambra State House of Assembly has passed a resolution urging Governor Willie Obiano to pay attention to the cladestine activities of “Sterling Oil Exploration and Energy Company” in Ogwuikpele and Ogwuaniocha communities of Ogbaru Two Constituency and take immediate action to remedy the situation in order to avert the breakdown of law and order.
The House passed the resolution following a motion sponsored to that effect by the member representing Ogbaru Two Constituency, Sir Somtoochukwu Udeze during yesterday’s plenary. Sponsoring the motion, Sir Somtoochukwu emphasized that the activities of the company have resulted in youth restiveness which if not checked might lead to militancy, loss of lives and properties and complete breakdown of law and order in the community. In their contributions, the member representing Njikoka Two Constituency, Dr. Pete Ibida and his Awka North counterpart, Chief John Nwokoye spoke in favour of the motion.Speaker of the House, Mr. Uche Okafor expressed optimism that the Executive Arm of Government will do the needful to salvage the situation
