The Christmas season has been ushered into Anambra State.
The State Governor, Chief Willie Obiano inspected Christmas decoration through Upper Iweka, Onitsha, to Kenneth Dike Library, Awka, where the symbolic switch on of Christmas light was performed.

All members of the State executive council, all State house of Assembly members, party stalwarts, ndi Anambra thronged the venues of the event.
Governor Obiano said that the event is in the spirit of Christmas which is a season of sacrificial giving and love, assuring residents and returnees alike of adequate security during and even beyond their stay.

He used the opportunity to woo investors to the State, as the present administration has provided an enabling environment for legitimate businesses to thrive.
Commissioner for Local government and chieftaincy affairs, Chief Greg Obi said that the event which has become annual, is a credit to the Governor, especially as it was done in Upper Iweka which used to be a dreaded area before the advent of the present administration.

He announced that the flag off is the beginning of Christmas activities in the State.
The symbolic switch on at Upper Iweka Onitsha was performed by the House of Assembly Speaker, Mr Uchenna Okafor, while the Awka switch on was performed by Commissioner for Basic Education, Professor Kate Omenugha in collaboration with the Chief Press Secretary, Mr James Eze.

Speaking to the ABS, Secretary to the State government, Professor Solo Chukwulobelu and Chief of Staff to the Governor, Mr Primus Odili, added that Anambra has remained at the fore front of development in all spheres of human endeavour, saying that Willie Obiano government has constantly tried to put the festivity spirit in ndi Anambra by encouraging such decorations, unlike what was obtainable.
The event witnessed fire works displays which pervaded the air.
