The Maternal and Child Health Clinic, MCH, Amawbia, has concluded it’s end of the year celebration with a call for proper orientation of parents and children so that they can contribute their quota in building a better Nigeria.
The party which took place over the weekend at Amawbia, attracted many parents, children, political appointees and civil servants.
In an opening remarks, the chairman on the occasion and representative of the Red Cross Society, Mr. Chukwuemeka Akpagu, said that the event among other things, aimed at teaching people what makes children behave in a certain way, insisting that with perseverance in training, they will turn out to be great future leaders.
In her welcome address, the officer in charge of the clinic, Mrs.
Claire Nwankwu, noted that the event was to teach parents how to groom the positive traits in their children and as well, how to tackle the negative traits.
In a lecture titled, “Why Children behave the way they do, “a resource person, Mr. Jeff Nwosu, mentioned poor parental upbringing, environmental factors, negative media influence and early exposure to the internet as some of the reasons children misbehave.
Mr. Nwosu asked parents to appreciate the good behaviors of their children noting that this will encourage them to behave better, adding that they should also involve God in children upbringing.
In his remarks, the Head, of Health, Awka South Local Government Area, Dr. Kanayo Onalu ,said the best thing parents can do for their children is to allow them to choose their careers by themselves noting that parents who choose careers for their children are selfish.
While explaining that every person created by God has a talent, Dr Onalu, advised parents to find out the passion of their children and encourage them.
The party featured cutting of cake by Lady Anagor who represented the Commissioner for Women and Children Affairs, Lady Ndidi Mezue, debate, dance, group photograph among others.
