Following credible intelligence report, Police operatives attached to the Anambra State Command Special Anti cult unit in conjunction with operation Kpochakpu Two have arrested one Ikechukwu Ezeh popularly known as Mopol aged thirty-four, from Okija in Ihiala Local Government Area, Jude Nwachukwu aged twenty-four from Ebonyi, Samuel Egbe aged twenty-five from Ebonyi, Chukwudi Augustine aged twenty-four from Ebonyi and Jacob Godwin aged twenty-two also from Ebonyi.
Also arrested were Paul Linus aged twenty-six from Ebonyi, Uche Okoye aged twenty-seven from Anambra and one Augustine Uzokwa aged twenty-six from Anambra.
The suspects who were arrested at Nkwelle Ezunaka in Oyi Local Government Area were part of the gang allegedly involved in series of armed robbery, phones and handbags snatching within Onitsha and environs.
According to a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, Mr Haruna Muhammade exhibits recovered from them included one double barrel gun, one single barrel gun, two big bags containing weeds suspected to be cannabis- sativa, two computer laptops, nineteen pieces of cell phones, locally made bunkers, packets of Roller used to wrap hard drug, forty-four lighters, three packs of cotton bud, two bottles of perfumes, cash of forty-two thousand five hundred Naira and other incriminating items.
In a related development, Police patrol team attached to Awada Division in response to a distress call at Upper Iweka, have arrested one Arinze Ozemenam aged twenty, popularly known as Arewa a notorious robbery suspect terrorizing Upper Iweka axis.
The suspect allegedly way led one Emeka Nweke of Nkpor and robbed him of physical cash and other belongings while returning from a Church Service.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, all cases are under investigation after which suspects will be charged to court.
Meanwhile, the Anambra State Commissioner of Police Mr John Abang, has enjoined the Public whose handsets and laptops were either snatched or stolen through similar modus to report at the Special Anti cult unit Enugwu-ukwu, with proof of ownership for possible collection and also give further evidence to aid Police investigation.
The Command assured the Public that it will continue to deny the criminals the opportunity to operate through intensive patrols, continuous raids on black spots and criminal hideouts, and intelligence gathering in order to enable Ndi Anambra and residents alike enjoy the Yuletide peacefully.
