Nigerians have been urged To diversify their sources of income. The President, Anambra State Towns People’s Association, ASTPA, Engineer Ike Iwenofu, was speaking at the graduation ceremony of the first batch of the one hundred and seventy-nine Anambra indigenes resident in Abuja who were trained by the Anambra Laision Officer, Mrs. Agatha Manafa.


Our Abuja Bureau Chief, Ekwi Ajide reports that the thirty five graduands exhibited their handiwork to their town unions to see.


The graduands garbed in their immaculate white aprons and bonnet took turns to showcase their products according to their communities.


Addressing the assemblage, Engineer Iwenofu, who doubled as the Chairman on the occasion, commended the Liaison Officer for initiating the project and charged the graduands to remain, focused so as to achieve the aim of the project which is to provide them with alternative means of livelihood.


He reminded Ndi Anambra of the need to think home especially now that the Obiano led administration has put in place enough security networks to safeguard them and their wealth.


In a welcome speech, the Liaison Officer, Mrs Manafa, expressed satisfaction with the passion and dedication of the graduands saying it has spurred her to do more.


She disclosed that she ventured into the project to make life easier for many who are often deterred by the high cost of living in the Federal Capital Territory.


Some town union leaders including Ichie Ikemefuna Anikwenze of Nando, Chief Nicholas Nwosu of Ikenga among others encouraged the graduands to be committed.


While the cake Instructor, who is a lawyer, Miss Chinelo Madueke, reminded them that constant practice is key to acquiring better culinary skills.


For some of the graduands including Mr Emeka Onwugamba, Mrs Nwadiogo Okpala and Miss Amarachi Ekwegbalu promised to step down the training to other members of their communities just as they promised to use what they learnt to better their lots.
