The Nwora family of Umuakwu village, Enugwu-Ukwu in Njikoka council area of Anambra state on Sunday, 29th December 2019 joined fellow parishioners of St. Theresa’s Catholic Church, Enugwu-Ukwu in a special thanksgiving mass for their patriarch Nze Edwin Okonkwo Nwora, and matriarch, Ezinne Gloria Ukamaka Nwora who turned 84 and 81 years respectively.

The thanksgiving mass which coincided with the Holy family celebrations attracted the presence of friends, well-wishers and associates of the Nworas.

Delivering a sermon at St. Theresa’s Catholic Church, Enugwu-Ukwu, a visiting priest, Rev Father Christopher Ezeonu, described family as a micro society that places enormous responsibilities on parents and children.

Father Ezeonu, who charged parents to rededicate themselves to the task of raising a holy and responsible family, maintained that the family remains the bedrock of the society.

He stressed the need for respect, love and unity among family members, describing it as a surest way of attracting more blessings in a family.

At a social event organized for the celebrants in their country home, Senator Victor Umeh, who represented Anambra Central in the eight assembly, the Principal Secretary to Governor Willie Obiano, Sir Willie Nwokoye, and Mr Austin Ekwensi, said living over eighty years is an uncommon grace of God. They thanked the Nwora family for choosing to celebrate their parents alive.

Children of the celebrants, including Nze George, Chinyere, Ifeyinwa, Peter, Charles and Chief Uche Nwora, Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of the Anambra Broadcasting Service (ABS), who recalled their parents efforts at raising and maintaining a responsibly united family, promised to uphold the good virtues of their parents, even as they wished them more years in good health.

Ezinne Gloria Ukamaka Nwora, whose joy knew no bounds at the event, said patience, love and spirit of forgiveness are needed for blissful marital union, urging young families to emulate them.

The traditional ruler of Enugwu-Ukwu, Igwe Sir Ralph Ekpeh and Enugwu-Ukwu traditional cabinet members, the Deputy Governor of Anambra state, Dr. Nkem Okeke, Dr. Pete Ibida, member representing Njikoka Two in the state assembly, the Commissioner for Basic Education, Professor Kate Omenugha, were among the dignitaries that joined in celebrating Nze Edwin Okonkwo and Ezinne Gloria Ukamaka Nwora.
