Anambra State Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps says it will embark on aggressive public enlightenment and enforcement of traffic rules and regulations this year, to consolidate on the achievements it recorded last year.


Its Sector Commander Mr Andrew Kumapayi, who disclosed this in a telephone interview with Abuchi Nwozor, also announced that the corps will continue with its collaboration with other sister agencies and security outfits across the State to achieve its set objectives for 2020.


He said that the rate of road crashes in 2019 reduced drastically compare to that of 2018, and commended Motorists and other stakeholders in the transport sector for their support and co-operation to the State Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps which enabled it to achieve the feat.


Mr Kumapayi, who announced that Officers and Men of the Federal Road Safety Corps have been engaging in a twenty four hour surveillance in different routes across the State, especially at the Upper Iweka and Bridgehead axis of Onitsha to ensure free vehicular movement maintained that the command has commenced what it called operation zero tolerance to autocrash on the highways.


He said that the purpose of the programme is to ensure that people reach their various destinations safely.
The State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps commended the Media in Anambra State for their support to the command which enabled them record successes in their operations.
Mr Kumapayi equally commended Governor Willie Obiano for his support and encouragement to the agency through the provision of an enabling environment for them to work.
