Nwafor Orizu College of Education Nsugbe has commenced year 2020 with an interdenominational prayer for the college community.


The event which featured repentance, thanksgiving and intercessory prayers by and for staff and students of the college, was aimed at remodeling and influencing attitude of members of the college community for an improved academic session.


In his sermon, the Catholic Chaplain of the College, Reverend Father Doctor Benjamin Udeh, said for God’s presence and mercies for the college community in the past year, the prayer session was deserving.


Anchoring his sermon on the scripture, Father Ude said staff and students of the college can only have a successful academic session when God’s commandments are obeyed in their daily activities, urging them to flee sexual immoralities and all forms of evil desires, including giving and accepting gratifications for academic marks.


Contributing, the Anglican Chaplain of the College, Venerable Charles Chukwurah, called on staff of the College to emulate the Provost, who according to him has been discharging official duties effectively while maintaining cordial relationship with the staff and students.

Addressing the gathering, the Provost of the College, Doctor Ifeyinwa Osegbo called for a change of attitude to work among staff and students of the institution, as a way of attracting more government attention to the needs of the College.


She called for more supports from government and the Governing Council in uplifting the College.


Some staff, including the Dean of Students Affairs, Doctor Vincent Asalu, Coordinator of Centre for Educational Technology, Doctor Mark Ofoefuna and Emeritus Director of Degree Programs of the College, Doctor Felicia Nwakonobi, called on colleagues to imbibe self-discipline, which according to them is necessary for attitudinal change.


Mr. Chinonso Amadike and Miss Patricia Okonkwo added that success in their academics will be possible when staff and students of the College embrace self-discipline, attitudinal change and love among one another as a community.
