Anambra State government has assured of increased partnership with the Nigerian Army on road construction, to achieve quality road network across the State.

Governor Willie Obiano, who gave the assurance while inspected on-going construction work on ten roads at Fegge, Onitsha, promised to award ten more roads to the Army once they conclude the contract at hand.

The roads including Oraukwu Street, Silas Works Road, Miss Elems, Akoko, Anekwe among others totaling three point eight kilometers also noted that drainages, earthwork and asphalting had been concluded on most of them.

Governor Obiano commended the Nigerian Army Engineers for quality jobs, and urged people living in the areas to help themselves and government by clearing the drainages, after which the dirt will be evacuated by the State government waste management Agency.

He also directed that Ihiala and Guest House streets be included in the contract.
The Commissioner for Works, Engineer Marcel Ifejiofor said that contrary to rumors making the rounds, the road projects in the area are being executed by Anambra State government, pointing out that the Army Engineers are known for standards.

Brigadier General Nash Yakubu, in charge of Nigerian Army Engineers, who assured that they will round off all the roads awarded to them by April, asked for more support.

Most of the roads are already open to traffic.

In a related development, Governor Obiano also inspected the ongoing construction work along the Anambra Airport Road.

The four point eight kilometer dual carriage road is between Awkuzu and Umunya axis of the Enugu-Onitsha expressway.

Out of the four point eight kilometers, two point five kilometer has been cleared and filled with laterite.

The contractor handling the project Mr. Jonny Nasa assured of delivery in ten months once they are mobilized.
