The State Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, said it has secured the conviction of about thirty-seven people over drug related offences.


The State Commander of the agency, Mr. Misbalu Muhammed Idris, who disclosed this during a familiarization visit to the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the ABS, Chief Uche Nworah, added that over one hundred suspects are on awaiting trial, while about five hundred kilograms of different types of drugs were seized by the agency.


The NDLEA boss Mr. Idris said the essence of the visit was to seek better ways of using the media especially, ABS in mobilizing community, to curb related crimes in the State.


He expressed worry that people are still unaware of dangers associated with drug abuses, adding that with the help of the agency and the media, the State government achievements in security will be sustained and improved.


Responding the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the ABS, Chief Nworah said ABS is ready to sustain and improve existing relationship with the agency in tackling drug-abuses and drug related crimes in the State.


He urged the agency to take advantage of opportunities offered by the station to promote their activities in the State.
