The Anambra Demands Soludo Organisation has organized a football competition between Ichi and Ozubulu communities in Ekwusigo Local Government Area.


During the match which was kicked off by the Chairman of Ekwusigo Local Government Area, Honourable Austin Enendu, Ichi wore red jersey while Ozubulu wore dark blue and yellow stripped jersey in the entertaining encounter.


Honourable Enendu remarked that football brings unity among the people, especially the young.


He stressed the need for youths to engaged productively and encouraged to imbibe spirit of sportsmanship as they prepare for their future roles in the society.


Mr Enendu pointed out that a former Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Professor Chukwumma Soludo is a leader of quality attribute, who has demonstrated commitment towards bringing succor to the youths.


Also speaking, the Managing Director of Anambra state Signage and Advertisement Agency and also the Chairman of Anambra Demands for Soludo, Chief Jude Emecheta, emphasized that sports is a tool which meaningfully engages youths to showcase their talents and stay away from crime.


Chief Emecheta explained that the best eighteen players in the competition, which will be played across the twenty-one local government areas of the state in a league format between communities, will be selected for further training, while the winners will go home with cash prices ranging from five hundred thousand naira.


For Honourable Paully Onyeka, the Chief Liaison Officer to the Governor on Assembly and Labour Union Matters and the Coach of Ozubulu team, Mr. Felix Okoye, described Professor Soludo as a man that has the interest of people at heart which according to them, has prompted the call for him to run for political office and noted that the competition has and will meaningfully engage the youths of the state.


Ozubulu team won the match three- zero against Ichi.
