The Anambra State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, has paraded two male suspects for assault, vandalization of government property and cultivation of plant suspected to be cannabis sativa.


The two suspects were paraded at the State Command Headquarters, in Awka.

One of the suspects, Amobi Okafor, aged forty-five, from Uruofolo Village, Nri, in Anaocha Local Government Area, was arrested last week for assaulting a seventy-one-year old security guard attached to a secondary school in the community, and for also cultivating marijuana at the school premises.


The second suspect a fifty-year-old Sunday Ezenwaka, from Oba in Idemili South Local Government Area, was apprehended for vandalizing and stealing iron roofing frames in a government building still under construction, opposite Anambra State Government Secretariat, Awka.


The Anambra State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Mr David Bille, who briefed newsmen, said that the command has declared a total war against illicit drug in the State as a way of preventing youths from getting their hands on the illegal substance.


Mr Bille extolled the cooperation of residents which helped in the arrests, adding that after full investigation into the offences, both suspects will be handed over to appropriate authorities for prosecution.


The suspects, who spoke to newsmen, also relayed their involvements in the alleged offences.
