The wife of Anambra state Governor, Dr Mrs. Ebelechukwu Obiano says training and empowerment of youths in the state is one of the priority of the present administration.


The Governor’s wife stated this during the training and empowerment of one hundred people at Neni the Council headquarter, of Anaocha.


The empowerment program which was sponsored by some public spirited individuals from Anaocha to promote the welfare of their youths has participants from the ten communities of the council area, trained in different skills which includes catering, knitting, decoration, tailoring, electric/solar light installation, aluminium fabrication among others.


Addressing the participants, the Wife of the governor, Dr Mrs. Ebelechukwu Obiano commended Ndi Anaocha for the bold step taken in ensuring that their children learn skills that will make them self reliant and employers of labour.


Represented by the Commissioner For Children , Women and Social Welfare, Lady Ndidi Mezue Dr Mrs Obiano noted that the program is in line with the state government’s vision of empowering youths of the state and pointed out that skills acquisition is the best option as it will not only put food on their table but will make them to be self reliant.


In their separate speeches, the members representing Anaocha One and Two in Anambra State House of Assembly, Honourable Ebele Ejiofor and Chief Ejike Okechukwu extolled their Chairman, Chief Onyedum and members for the bold initiative stating that Ndi Anaocha are known for their skills and advised those yet to register to do so as it will be of high benefit to them.


Speaking to Journalists, the Transition Committee Chairman of Anaocha Council Area, Honourable Patrick Onyedum said they embarked on the project which is the first phase, based on the vision of the governor and his wife in alleviating poverty at the grassroot pointing out that the gesture is his little way of giving the poor a sense of belonging In her welcome address, the Wife of the Transition Chairman, Mrs. Rita Onyedum maintained that they achieved gender balance by empowering both men and women to take control over their lives.


For some of the participants , including Miss Chinecherem Okafor, Chibike Ukeh and Mr. Chukwuebuka Ilodiuba, counted themselves lucky to be among those that benefited stating that the equipment provided will go a long way in serving them and promised to use it to achieve the set goals . Highlights were presentation of the equipment to the participants by Dr Mrs. Obiano.
