Anambra State government has presented certificates of recognition to Igwe-elect of Nkpologwu, Aguata council area and Isulo in Orumba South council area.


Governor Willie Obiano made the presentations at the Governor’s Lodge, Amawbia.


Government House Correspondent, Ejike Abana reports that while Igwe Moses Obijikwe was recognized as the traditional ruler of Nkpologwu, Igwe Chike Mmaduka was recognized as the traditional ruler of Isulo.


Making the presentations, Governor Obiano called on the Traditional rulers to support the State government’s policies and programmes at well as use their new positions to form a rallying point for their community members.


He reminded them that the ongoing “Community Policing Initiative” is for the best interest of their communities urging them to embrace it.


In his speech, the Commissioner for Chieftaincy and Local Government Affairs, Chief Greg Obi stressed that Governor Obiano’s administration abhors vacuum in leadership, explaining that the Ministry, in line with the constitutions of their respective communities supported the election process.


Chief Obi, who commended the communities especially Nkpologwu for its peaceful disposition throughout the process, applauded Governor Obiano for his grassroots oriented style of leadership having given over twenty-five certificates since inception.


Also speaking, the state chairman of the Traditional Rulers’ Council, Igwe Alfred Achebe, who spoke through Igwe Sunday Okafor of Okpuno advised them to use the certificates for the good of their people and government of the state.


Responding, the traditional rulers Igwe Obijikwe and Igwe Mmaduka pledged to use their offices for the good of their communities and the society in general.


The event, was attended by the Commissioner for Basic Education, Professor Kate Omenugha, Commissioner for Housing and Urban Development, Architect Mike Okonkwo, member representing Aguata Constituency One at the State House of Assembly, Mr. Carter Umeh and his Orumba South counterpart, Mr. Emmanuel Nwafor, Traditional ruler of Okpuno, Igwe Sunday Okafor, Traditional ruler of Ezira, Igwe Samuel Uche, President General of ASATU, Chief Alex Onukwue and Chief Benjamin Obi among others.
