Mrs. Cecilia Chika Anyakora was born at Abagana on April 9, 1939 to Mr. and Mrs. Ifedigbo of Akpu village, Abagana village. She was baptized four weeks later on May 7, 1939. Cecilia grew up in a deeply Christian home. She received her first holy communion in 1951 and was nurtured in the way of the Roman Catholic Church.

Chika was the last of her seven siblings. She received her basic education at Abagana. She spent part of her adolescent years with her sister in the northern part of Nigeria. Mrs. Cecilia Anyakora moved to Onitsha after her marriage to late Ichie Fidelis Anyakora, a businessman and a philanthropist. Their wedding was a remarkable one for that period. The wedding took place at the sacred heart parish Onitsha on August 4, 1958.

After the wedding, Mrs. Cecilia Chika Anyakora supported her husband in building his business, but mostly focused on building a solid home and giving good formation to their children. Their marriage was blessed with ten children, five sons and five daughters.

Theirs was a deeply Christian home where all the children were groomed and raised to love God above everything. Before her death, Mrs. Cecilia Chika Anyakora was grateful to God for letting her see her grand children and great grand children. She was blessed with 16 grand children and two great grand children. Mrs. Cecilia Anyakora lost her husband in September 2017 after almost sixty years of peaceful, happy and remarkable marriage.

Mrs. Cecilia Anyakora was a socialite and a leader of women. She was renowned for her generosity and love for peace. She was a bridge builder. Mrs. Cecilia Chika Anyakora was generally known by her peers as Eziafakaego. She exemplified this name and imbibed this in all her children. She was a deeply pious member of the Catholic Church and attended Mass daily. She participated actively in her local parish, both in Onitsha and at Abagana.

She is survived by nine children: High Chief Dr. Chris Anyakora (Okofia the third of Abagana); Mrs. Ngozi Edith Alaebo, Mrs. Rose Nwankwo, Mrs. Uchenna Igabor and Maureen Anyakora. Others are Tochukwu Anyakora, Professor Chimezie Anyakora, Ikenna Anyakora and Ifeyinwa Anyakora; two sons in-law, two daughters-in-law, sixteen grand children and two great grand children.

Vigil Mass holds today, Thursday 5th of March at her compound. Tomorrow, Friday, March 6, 2020, Funeral Mass will take place at Saint Marks’ Catholic Church, Abagana by 10am, while condolence visits by in-laws will take place on Saturday 7th of March. There will be thanksgiving Mass on Sunday, March 8, 2020 at Saint Marks’ Catholic Church, Abagana
