Anambra Market Women Association has re-assured of partnering the government in development.
The group stated this when they paid a courtesy call on the Commissioner for Trade, Commerce, Market and Wealth Creation, Mr Uchenna Okafor.
Market women are known to be strong bone of the Economic sector, as they contribute their quota to Trade and Commerce thereby empowering themselves.
Speaking during the visit at the Jerome Udoji Secretariat Complex in Awka, the leader of the group, Mrs. Nkiruka Duru noted that the visit was to intimate the Commissioner on the existence and activities of the group and ways in which they can partner with the government through the Ministry.
Mrs. Duru also pointed out that women go through a lot in the society and one of the ways to keep them busy and become part of development within their environment is to empower them.
In a remark the Commissioner, Mr Okafor emphasized that the Statep government exist to bring stability and p>, and the market women’s consciousness of organizing themselves together for their progress is most commendable as the Ministry under him will be willing to partner with them on any project or programme which will add value to the system and benefit Ndi Anambra, as he advised them to work within the rule of law.
The highlight of the visit was the investiture of the Commissioner, as the patron of the Association.
