Buhari Reassures Of More Interventions In Tertiary Institutions

The Federal government has re-assured of providing the needed environment for Institutions of Higher learning to perform optimally.

President Mohammadu Buhari, gave the assurance at Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka, during the University’s fourth convocation ceremonies and conferment of honorary Doctorate degrees and post graduate diplomas on some individuals.

Education correspondent Theophilus Ukoha reports that President Buhari who was represented by the Executive Secretary National Universities Commission, Professor Abubakar Rasheed, said the Federal government through various intervention programmes, has shown its commitment to enhanced teaching and learning.

In an address the Chancellor of the University, Dr DaJacob GyangBuba, who is also the Gbong Gwom Jos, commended the Governing Council of the University and the Vice Chancellor Professor Charles Esimone, for conducting a transparent and rancor free Selection of the Vice Chancellor and urged all relevant agencies and various beneficiaries of the institution to continue with their support to the university.

The Acting Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council, Nnamdi Azikiwe University Alhaji Isa Modibbo, congratulated those who were conferred with Honorary Doctorate Degrees, and urged them to continue with their support to the Institution.

The Vice Chancellor of the University Professor Esimone, said he is committed to making the institution to be among the best two hundred Universities in the world.

The fourteenth convocation ceremonies which attracted the Secretary to the Anambra State government Professor Solo Chukwulobelu, a representative of Governor Willie Obiano ,traditional rulers, Captains of Industry, among others, witnessed the award of postgraduate diplomas to one thousand nine hundred and fifty-four persons, Master’s degrees to six hundred and ten individuals and Doctorate degrees to three hundred and thirty-nine persons for the 2018 and 2019 academic year.

Some of the recipients including Dr Emeka Odogwu, Dr Iyke Nwokedi and Dr Chinenye Chibueze, expressed joy for honor done them.

Chief Innocent Chukwuma and Dr Daniel Chukwudozie were conferred with Honourary Doctorate Degrees in Industrial Engineering and Commerce respectively.
