The Anambra State House of Assembly Committee on Public Account has charged the Awka North Local Government Council to strengthen their financial records for the year 2018 to encourage accountability in Local Government administration.
House of Assembly Correspondent, Chukwuemeka Modilim reports that the Committee made the charge while verifying the 2018 audited account of the Local Government in Awka.
The Committee which spoke through its Chairman, Sir Somtoochukwu Udeze asked the local government authority to put their financial records straight to improve the internally generated revenue of the local government and encourage transparency.
In vote of thanks, the Transition Committee Chairman, Awka North Local Government Area, Mr. Ferdinand Onwuje assured that they will carry out the directive even as he commended the Committee for living up to their oversight responsibility.
The Committee also verified the 2018 audited financial records of the Anambra East, Oyi, Orumba North and South Local Government Councils.
