Nibo Football Club has emerged winner of the tenth edition of Obizi Unity Cup competition for all the communities within Awka South Two Constituency.
House of Assembly Correspondent, Chukwuemeka Modilim reports that Nibo Football Club defeated Umuawulu Team by three goals to one in grand final played at Amawbia football pitch.
Nibo football Club received six hundred thousand naira for winning the tenth edition of the competition, while the first runner up, Umuawulu Team went home with four hundred thousand naira and Nise Community received three hundred thousand naira for finishing in third position.
All the towns that participated in the league went home with cash gift as consolation prize.
Speaking during the event, the Sponsor, Honourable Chukwuka Okoye representing Awka South Two Constituency at the Anambra State House of Assembly, explained that the competition was designed to promote unity and peaceful coexistence among the communities that make up Awka South Two Constituency and serves as an avenue through which he discovers stars he sends abroad to advance their football career and earn a living for themselves.
The Former Member that represented Awka North South Federal Constituency, Right Honourable Anayo Nnebe, commended the benefactor for taking the youths off the streets by engaging them positively, nothng that the competition has helped many youths in the area to rediscover themselves and become useful to the society.
The member representing Anambra West Constituency, Honourable Patrick Udeoba lauded the initiative as he said it has complimented the efforts of the State Government in development of sports in the state.
