The people of Ojoto community in Idemili South council area have elected a new Town Union Executive that will pilot the affairs of its town union for the next four years.


The event took place at the community town hall with sons and daughters of the community both at home and in the diaspora in attendance.


The election, supervised by officials of the State Ministry of Local Governments, Town Unions and Chieftaincy Matters, representatives from Anambra State Association of Town Unions, the Igwe’s Cabinet and the Election Committee, saw Chief Donatus Anozie poll one hundred votes to emerge the President General against the second runner up, Chief Steve Okwusa who got only one vote.


Other executive members are Engineer Chinedu Ejiofor , Vice President General, Professor Paul Ejikeme , Secretary, Mr. Omoba Okoye, Treasurer and Obimdike Ajaegbo as Public Relations Officer.


In their separate remarks, Mr. Ikechukwu Amuike on behalf of the State Ministry of Local Governments, Town Unions and Chieftaincy Matters and the National Liaison Officer of ASATU, Sir Joseph Uchendu, commended the composure and maturity demonstrated by members of the community before, during and after the election which they described as the best of its kind.


In his acceptance speech, the President General elect, Chief Anozie thanked members of the community for the call to serve and promised to discharge his duties beyond their expectations as well as do all within his power to ensure the existing peace and spirit of brotherliness in the community are sustained.


Earlier, the outgoing President General of the community, Dr Edwin Chuba enumerated the various achievements of his administration and all the community benefited from the Willie Obiano administration.


Also speaking, one of the contestants, Chief Okwusa testified that the election was free, fair and transparent adding that Chief Anozie merited the victory as President General elect and assured him of his unalloyed support throughout his tenure for the overall development of Ojoto community.


The new executive will be sworn in on twenty-eight March to pilot the affairs of Ojoto Akanasato community for the next four years.
