The Eze Ojoto, Igwe Gerald Mbamalu has personally led the shutdown of burial ceremonies in his domain that contravened the Anambra state government directives banning the public gathering of more than thirty people.


The Traditional ruler of Ojoto, Igwe Mbamalu who embarked on enforcement of the ban in his community, stopped ongoing burial ceremonies in three places to curtail possible spread of the virus by participants.


At the events which took place at various villages of Ojoto community, members of the igwe’s Cabinet, Ojoto Akanasato Town Union led by the new President General Chief Donatus Anozie and the Anambra State Vigilantee services carry out the exercise.


Speaking at various places visited, Igwe Mbamalu said that the rural communities are the most difficult places to drive the campaign of COVID-19 because many of them don’t believe in it because they are not following current development across the world which prompted the community leadership to go round villages where activities were on going to enlighten the people on the great danger of the Coronavirus pandemic.


The Monarch urged his subjects to postpone all activities as majority of the events attract people from all parts of the country, which according to him is capable of spreading the deadly virus.


Contributing, the President General Ojoto Akanasato Town Union, Chief Donatus Anozie wondered why some people were yet to comply to Governments directive and expressed worry over the fast spreading rate of the virus that is currently tormenting nations around the world.


The families of the deceased persons were later allowed to bury their dead in adherence to the government directive of not more than thirty persons.
