The Anambra State government says it will not relent in ensuring that the state is rid of indiscipline and touting.
The Commissioner for Transport, Dr. Christian Mmadubuko said this when he led officials of the Ministry to enforce traffic laws, as well as chase out touts in Onitsha and environs.
Areas monitored by the commissioner were Upper Iweka, Bridge Head and Okpoko among other places.
Speaking to the ABS after the exercise, Dr. Mmadubuko noted that the enforcement was to ensure that commercial vehicles loading and offloading commuters indiscriminately stopped forthwith and comply with the state government’s directive on the number of passengers to carry at any given time.
The Commissioner maintained that the enforcement will continue to go on in all major cities and parks across the state until sanity is restored.
Also speaking, the Anambra state Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Mr Andrew Kumakpayi who was also involved in the exercise pointed out that the Corps is working with all the security agencies and the Ministry of Transport to ensure that the state government’s directive is strictly adhered to.
The Commissioner had earlier monitored inter-state commercial buses to know their level of compliance over passenger’s manifest, all in a bid to curb the spread of the virus in the state.
