The Member Representing Onitsha South Two Constituency at the Anambra State House of Assembly, Honourable Beverly Nkemdiche Ikpeazu has distributes preventive and protective materials against coronavirus as well as food items to cushion the effect of lockdown to the people of her constituency.
The event held at Honourable Nkemdiche Constituency office was attended by ward chairmen and counselors in the constituency where the Lawmaker sensitized the people on possible ways of protecting themselves and family members, against coronavirus.
The items distributed to people in Odoakpu Wards One to Seven include cartons of alcoholic based sanitizers, hand gloves, nose masks, bucket taps, liquid soaps, bags of rice and garri, cartons of indomie, canned fish and biscuits for children among others.
Honourabl Nkemdiche Ikpeazu engaged Ward Chairman and Councilors to deliver the items to the beneficiaries including over two hundred elderly persons from seventy years and above at their homes to avoid crowd or social gathering.
Speaking through her campaign Organization Director General, Mr Ifechukwu Okosieme, Honourable Nkemdiche Ikpeazu said the aim was to complement the efforts of Governor Willie Obiano in providing stimulus packages to cushion lockdown effect on her constituents and distribution of protective materials to them as some may not be able to afford it.
She urged the people to heed state government directives on precautionary measures against coronavirus to stay safe.
On his part, the APGA Chairman Onitsha South Local Government Area Honourable Ikechukwu Muofunanya thanked the House Member for her quality representation, caring and for sensitizing the people of her constituency to ensure safety and commended the state government for the early awareness and proactive measures taken against the virus and thanked God that the virus has not entered Anambra state.
The Director of Operation Honourable Beverly Nkemdiche Ikpeazu Foundation, Honourable Onyebuchi Obi and Personal Assistant to Nkemdiche Mr. Martine expressed happiness that the items reached targeted recipients and thanked Nkemdiche for her care, urging people to always observe the stipulated hygiene and directives to avoid contracting the virus.
Others who spoke during the sensitization were Ward Chairmen Mayor Ethelbert Umeh, Mr. Romanus Nnamdi, Counselors Chenna, Comrade Azuka Ibe and Mrs. Mary Asobi who commended Honouarble Nkemdiche for her gesture and urged the beneficiaries to put the items top good use.
