The International Air Transport Association says as revenue losses
mount in Nigeria, about ninety-one thousand, three hundred and eighty
jobs in the nation’s aviation industry are on the line.


In a country specific analysis of the effects of COVID-19 on airlines’
operations, International Air Transport Association, said Nigeria will
record three point five million fewer passengers, resulting in a zero
point seven-six billion dollar revenue loss, risking ninety-one
thousand, three hundred and eighty jobs and zero point six-five
billion dollar in contribution to the country’s economy.


The association had earlier predicted that the disruption to air
travel due to the continued spread of corona-virus will cost Nigeria’s
aviation industry over four hundred and thirty-three million dollars
in revenue, twenty-two thousand two hundred jobs and approximately two
point two million passengers up from the eight hundred and fifty-three
thousand losses in passenger volumes and one hundred and seventy
million dollar loss in base revenue projected in early March.
