Igwe Gerald Mbamalu of Ojoto has said that his personal involvement in both supervision and distribution of the food items donated by the people of Ojoto in the Diaspora was to ensure maximum sensitization of the people on ways of averting the spread of the COVID-19 in the community.


Correspondent Emengini Osadebe reports that Igwe Mbamalu stated this at various distribution centers at Ojoto, Idemili South Council Area.
The Traditional Ruler, who in his usual way demonstrated the social distancing technique to the people, maintained that averting the spread of the virus depends on the people’s ability to adhere to the state government’s directives, adding that the virus has no cure yet.


On his part, the President General of Ojoto Akasasato Union, Chief Donatus Anozie said they are using the opportunity to sensitize the villagers on how to stay safe from the pandemic adding that the sensitization will be a continuous exercise until they totally imbibe the habit.


The Traditional Prime Minister of Ojoto, Chief Patrick Onwuaralu commended Igwe Mbamalu and his cabinet for ensuring transparent distribution of the items.


In separate interviews, the chairman, Umuezema village Ojoto, Mr. Linus Nzelu and his Ezema counterpart, Chief Sunday Nnoli extolled Ojoto people in the Diaspora for their efforts towards alleviating the plight of the vulnerable in the community even as the Umuezema Youth Leader, Mr. Chukwudi Amamchukwu thanked all the donors for their magnanimity.
Some of the beneficiaries expressed their joy and satisfaction and prayed God to bless them.


Villages visited were, Ojo, Umuezema and Umueze where bags of Rice and Beans, cartons of Noodles, vegetable oil and tin Tomatoes were distributed to beneficiaries.
