The Archbishop, Province of the Niger, Most Reverend Alexander Ibezim says the resurrection of Christ has brought hope of survival against the coronavirus pandemic.
Most Reverend Ibezim stated this in a sermon during the one hour On Air service of the ABS at Our Saviour’s Church, Emmaus House, Awka.
The Archbishop dwelt on the theme “who will roll away this stone’.
The On – Air service was to bring to the door steps of Christians, the messages of Christ at Easter due to stay at home directive occasioned by the coronavirus pandemic ravaging the world.
A look at the church, shows something different as the crucifix was not covered with cloth, priest’s stoles and altar decorations which used to be red, black and mauve colours changed to white, giving hope to Christians that Christ has risen.
All the hymns were saying “Halleluyah, Halleluyah”, he is risen indeed.
Most Reverend Ibezim who is also the Bishop of Awka Diocese, said that Easter means that sins have been forgiven as Christ died to bring a new life.
He said that the novel coronavirus pandemic that is causing havoc and putting fear of death will soon be a thing of the past as the promises of God will not depart from Christains and the power of resurrection will clear the virus and restore normalcy.
The Archbishop enumerated the roles of the faithful women who went to the tomb to anoint the body of Christ, stating that it shows faith and spirit of fellowship which is expected in the life of every Christian even as he charged them to abide by the government directives this moment so as to be prevent Coronavirus.
Also at the Retreat Center, Okpuno, the Catholic Bishop of Awka Diocese, Most Reverend Paulinus Ezeokafor, in a special mass to celebrate the Easter said that Christ’s death and resurrection is the basis and faith of Christianity.
Most Reverend Ezeokafor maintained that the greatest celebration in Christendom is the Easter as through the Lenten season, Palm Sunday, Good Friday, Holy Saturday and Easter Sunday, depicted the mystery of Christ’s journey for salvation of mankind.
He advised Christians to be righteous, forgive others and never indulge in sin as Christ whom they are celebrating is sinless.
Most Reverend Ezeokafor commended the state government for its efforts towards containing the rampaging coronavirus, stressing that now the state has recorded the first case, Ndi Anambra should abide by the directives of the government and take all the precautionary measures so as to stay safe.
The Prelate expressed faith that the risen Christ will bring everything to an end.
Throughout out the mass prayers were offered for God’s mercy upon His people to bring to end, the coronavirus pandemic.
