Following the Anambra State government call on individuals, groups and corporate organizations to assist in alleviating the plights of the people as a result of the sit-at-home order aimed at preventing the spread of coronavirus, the Management of Nice Micro Finance Bank Nise and a Board member have donated four hundred bags of rice and other food items as well as the sum of four hundred thousand naira to the people of its catchment area.


The donation which is part of the Bank’s corporate social responsibility will benefit all the four villages in Nise that were represented by women executive members who gathered at the Bank premises to receive the food items.


Blessing Uchendu reports that while
presenting the four hundred bags of rice to the women representatives, the Chairman of the Board Sir Chris Onor, said that the step was taken in response to the need to assist the Anambra State Government in ameliorating the effects of the extended lockdown needed to contain the spread of the COVID-19.


He urged governments at both State and Federal levels to roll out more measures to cushion the effects of the lockdown on the people especially the poor.


On his part, Chief Boniface Egbutu who assisted with a cash of four hundred thousand naira, twenty bags of beans and four hundred tubers of yam, said that the items were to help reduce hardship caused by the pandemic and called on other affluent members of the community to help in whichever way they can in order to alleviate the sufferings of indigent persons in the Community.

The President-General of Nise Town Union, Mr Dom Obiekie, commended the Board members of the Bank for their benevolence, pointing out that it is important that the items and cash got to the people that they were meant for, assuring that the town union has become part of the process to make it transparent.


Speaking to newsmen, the traditional ruler of Nise, Igwe Romanus Iloh, who is also a Board member of Nice Micro Finance Bank, commended Governor Willie Obiano for all the measures put in place to prevent the spread of the virus in the state and for the stimulus packages given to Ndi Anambra to cushion the effects of the coronavirus pandemic and advised the people of Nise to always adhere to the directives by government to avoid contracting COVID-19.


Speaking on behalf of Nise women, the Woman Leader of the town, Mrs Kate Anosike, expressed gratitude to the Management of the Bank for having the interest of the vulnerable at heart and prayed God to bless them.
