More corporate groups, organisations and individuals have continued to
respond to the state government’s call for contributions towards
alleviating the plight of the less privileged under the lockdown
situation.

Among those who were at the Government House Awka yesterday to present
their donations include the Rotary Club of Awka, a hotelier, Chief
Jude Akubude, and the Association of Medical Laboratory Scientists of
Nigeria, Anambra chapter.

According to the President of the Rotary Club, of Awka, Professor Uche
Collins Nwaogwugwu, who donated three hundred and sixty thousand naira
on behalf of the club, it is to support the state government in its
effort to safeguard Ndi Anambra and other residents of the state from
the virus.

A member of the club who is the Senior Special Assistant to Governor
Willie Obiano on Special Duties, Comrade Nwabufo Nwankwo and Rotarian
Ngozi Nworji-Eke were present during the donation.

For the Managing Director of Newton Park Hotels Abuja, Chief Jude
Akubude, a native of Orsumenyi in Nnewi south council area, who
donated two million naira, through Engineer Felix Odumegwu, it is
noble that affluent Ndi Anambra answer the state government’s call for
a concerted fight against the dreaded novel virus.

In another development, the Association of Medical Laboratory
Scientists Of Nigeria, Anambra State Chapter has donated seventy
litres of alcohol- based hands sanitizers and five hundred litres of
sanitary buckets.

Presenting the items to Professor Solo Chukwulobelu, who is the
secretary to Anambra state government, the Anambra state Chairman of
the association, Mr. Uche Ezenwa noted that the sanitizers were made
by them, even as he praised the efforts of Anambra state government in
handling the Coronavirus pandemic.

Responding, on each occasion, Professor Chukwulobelu, thanked them for
assisting in containing the virus in Anambra state.
