As part of efforts to contain the spread of Coronavirus pandemic, the Management and officers of the Federal Polytechnic Oko, has presented cartons of big and small hand sanitizers and face masks to the traditional ruler of Oko, Igwe Professor Laz Ekwueme as part of their Cooperate Social Responsibility.
Emmanuel Chigbata reports that the team, led by the Rector, Dr. Francisca Nwafulugo represented by the Deputy Rector, Dr. Izuchukwu Onu, in company of the Director for Medical Services, Dr Ifeoma Muonago, the Director, Short Courses, Dr. Edwin Chukwuma, the Public Relations Officer, Mr. Obini Onuchukwu and the Acting Librarian, Mrs. Nwabu Ezemba among others said the gesture was their quota towards preventing the scourge.
Dr. Nwafulugo described COVID-19 pandemic as a very serious disease and noted that the Institution is doing its best to impact positively on the residence of Oko community to ensure that their lives are safe and protected.
Giving an overview of COVID-19, Dr. Muonago reiterated that Covid19 is real and deadly and added that people should understand the need for personal hygiene, washing of hands regularly, observe social distancing and obey government order to prevent the virus.
Responding, Igwe Professor Ekwueme appreciated the Institution for the kind gesture and assured that the protective materials will be equitably distributed to the members of the community.
He also stressed that the cordial relationship between the Polytechnic and the community will continue to remain robust.
In their separate remarks, Dr. Chukwuma and Mr. Onuchukwu thanked the traditional ruler for honouring and giving them attention, stating that the visit will go a long way in preventing the ravaging scourge.
