Over one thousand indigent persons in Nteje community, Oyi council
area have received succour from the traditional ruler of the
community, Igwe Rowland Odegbo to mitigate the hardship resulting from
the lock down in parts of the country.

Igwe Odegbo also distributed face masks to the beneficiaries before
giving them a-ten kilograms of rice each at his Ikenga Nteje palace.

While addressing the beneficiaries, Igwe Odegbo, who is the Co-chairman,
Board of Directors of the ABS said, he called them not only for the
palliative but also to update them on the seriousness of the dreaded
COVID-19 pandemic.

He reminded them of the need to stay indoors to prevent them
from contracting the disease and to protect others, urging them to
always distance themselves from each other.

He appealed to the affluent in the community to extend kindness to the
less privileged persons in their area to help cushion the effects of
the lockdown, even as he appreciated Governor Willie Obiano for being
proactive in the fight against COVID-19 pandemic and for all the
various road constructions going on in the community.

The President General of the community, Chief Benneth Chinweze, who
expressed happiness over the development, said such has never happened
in their community and appealed to other affluent persons to key in.

In their separate speeches, some of the beneficiaries including Gold
Uche and Ozoemenam Nnaemeka, appreciated Igwe Odegbo for his
benevolence and prayed God to bless him abundantly.
