Cognizant of the health and economic effects of COVID-19 in communities especially the poor, Dr Chinedu Umeadi Foundation has
distributed food items to indigent people in Abagana, Njikoka Local
Government Area as well as hand washing buckets and sanitizers to
markets, churches, offices and health centers across the community.
Among the items, were bags of rice, tubers of yam, onions, noodles
and cash shared to the indigent persons selected from the seven
villages that make-up Abagana.

The benefactor, Dr Umeadi, who was represented by his brother, Mr.
Uchenna Umeadi, said that the Foundation was initiated with the aim of
giving succor to the downtrodden, hence the reason for the gesture to
cushion the economic effects of the stay-at-home order.

Dr Umeadi advised his townsmen to adhere strictly to the directives
issued by the World Health Organization, WHO and Anambra state
government, describing the COVID-19 pandemic as a global emergency.
Reacting, the traditional ruler of Abagana, Igwe Patrick
Mbamalu-Okeke, who acknowledged that the COVID-19 pandemic made things tough for everyone, noted that it is the duty of the affluent members
of the society to show love to the less privileged around them.
He commended the state government for its rapid response to the
coronavirus pandemic so far.

Contributing, the President General of Abagana Town Union, Sir Ikem
Onwuadi, who distributed the buckets and sanitizers to
various churches and offices in the town, stressed the importance of
social distancing and ensuring that they wash their hands regularly
and sanitize with alcohol-based sanitizers and, most importantly, stay
at home, especially at this period of total lockdown.
Two of the beneficiaries, Mrs. Joy Ozugha and Bridget Okonkwo,
thanked the donor for assisting them at this difficult economic time,
praying God to continue to bless him.
